Zachary 'Tommy' Burton Rises To WZPL MD/Afternoon Host

Cumulus Media CHR 99.5 WZPL Indianapolis has announced the promotion of Zachary Burton to Music Director and afternoon host.

Burton, who uses the on-air name ‘Tommy’, has spent his entire career at the station starting as a promotions assistant in 2018. He has served as fill-in afternoon host since Dylan Salisbury departed in November 2019 to program “98.9 Magic-FM” KKMG Colorado Springs. Burton’s promotion to full-time status follows his graduation from Anderson University last month.

CUMULUS MEDIA (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that it has named Zachary Burton as Afternoon Host and Music Director for Indianapolis Top 40 station 99.5 zpl/WZPL-FM. Burton is a recent graduate of Anderson University and has been a fill-in Afternoon Host for the station since former Afternoon Host Dylan Salisbury left WZPL to program CUMULUS MEDIA Top 40 station KKMG in November 2019.

JR Ammons, Operations Manager, Cumulus Indianapolis, said: “Zach’s been a valued member of our part-time staff for more than two years and I’m happy to say that he has earned this promotion through good old-fashioned hard work and passion. It genuinely makes me happy to see his efforts pay off.”

Zachary Burton commented: “I grew up in Indy and have idolized so many zpl personalities over the years… and now to be working alongside them is completely insane! I would love to thank JR Ammons and Dylan Salisbury for guiding me along the way, and Doug Hamand and Chuck Fredrick for the opportunity to grow with Cumulus!”
