WXTA Drops Nash For Erie Country

Another Cumulus Media Country station has made the move away from the “Nash-FM” brand.

97.9 Nash-FM” WXTA Edinboro/Erie PA dropped the ill-fated brand and relaunched as “Erie Country 97.9” at noon on Thursday. WXTA’s on-air lineup remains the same with Westwood One’s “Kincaid & Dallas” in mornings, Brittney Rose in middays, OM/PD Mike Sheffield in afternoons, and Westwood One’s “Nights with Elaina” in evenings and “Pickle Jar Up All Night” with Patrick Thomas overnights.

Sheffield stated, “Our focus will be serving & entertaining our neighbors, friends, families, & businesses in Erie & Crawford counties. Erie Country is not just the radio station for your favorite country music. We are here to serve you, talk about, & be at your local events. A country music station for all to enjoy!”

The station debuted its Country identity in September 1989 as “Country 98“. It would then take on Cumulus’ “Nash-FM” brand identity as part of its national roll-out in February 2014. The move leaves on six of Cumulus’ current based Country stations using the “Nash-FM” identity. Those are located in Columbus MS, Des Moines, Fort Smith, Jefferson City, Muncie, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
