After being the first station to go all-Christmas the past two years, Cumulus Media Oldies “Z104” 103.9 WWIZ Middlesex PA/Youngstown OH did not meet reaching that accomplishment this year as it made its annual move to “Christmas 104” at 12:25 this afternoon.
WWIZ made its move with Percy Faith and His Orchestra’s “We Need a Little Christmas” as it plans to continue the holiday music through the end of the year.
WWIZ was the first the make the move to Christmas music in 2020 on September 25. WWIZ was also first in 2019, but did not make the switch to “Christmas 104” until October 25 that year. This year Great Eastern Radio’s pending acquisition 97.9 WXMS Au Sable NY/Burlington VT beat WWIZ by a few hours.
CUMULUS MEDIA announces the launch today of Christmas 104 (WWIZ-FM), The Valley’s Christmas Station, an all-Christmas radio station bringing holiday cheer and the season’s best Christmas music to the Mahoning Valley. Christmas 104 debuted today at 12:25pm on WWIZ-FM, previously programmed as “Z104, The Valley’s Goodtime Oldies” station. “We Need a Little Christmas” by Percy Faith and His Orchestra kicked off the festive and familiar lineup of holiday tunes, which will run through year-end on WWIZ-FM.
