WSBT Reverts To AM Only As 96.1 The Ton Debuts In South Bend

Mid-West Family Broadcasting has launched Country “96.1 The Ton” W241AD South Bend IN/WQLQ-HD3 Benton Harbor MI.

Debuting at 9am this morning, the new brand will feature Premiere Networks “Bobby Bones Show” in mornings, longtime Chicago personality Brooke Hunter in middays, and Mark McGill in afternoons. McGill most recently hosted mornings at Federated Media Country “B100” 100.7 WBYT South Bend and has also hosted mornings at News/Talk “95.3 MNC” WTRC-FM and as PD/afternoon host at “Froggy 102.7” WAOR Ligonier IN.

The new format creates an in-market competitor to WBYT

The Sports format that had been heard on 96.1 will remain on 960 WSBT South Bend albeit with a brand new lineup.

Afternoon host Darin Pritchett will move to mornings from 6 to 9am for the “Morning Sportsbeat”. Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick Show returns to the station lineup for 9am-12pm. ESPN Radio’s Mike Greenberg will follow from 12-2pm. The station will then air Fox Sports Radio’s Colin Cowherd on a two hour delay from 2-5pm. Former afternoon co-host Sean Stires will take over the “Budweiser Sportsbeat” from 5-7pm. Two other afternoon shows will air delayed in evenings with ESPN’s Cheney and Golic from 7-10pm and Fox’s Doug Gottlieb from 10pm to 1am. CBS Sports Radio will run overnights. WSBT will also continue serving as the hometown affiliate for Notre Dame football and basketball and the South Bend Cubs.
