iHeartMedia AC “Q92” WRNQ Poughkeepsie NY has debuted “Marino in the Morning with Marissa”.
The show will be anchored by iHeartMedia Albany Area SVP/Programming Chris Marino, who moves back to WRNQ where he previously hosted afternoons. He will be joined by co-host Marissa Contelmo, who joined the station in promotions in 2021 and had been part of the station’s previous morning show hosted by Annie Leamy, and gossip reporter Mike Post and cluster Promotion Director Felicia Kirschner.
Marino will continue to host afternoons on sister Country 107.3 WRWD until the completion of the station’s St. Jude Radiothon on March 24 and 25. He will continue to serve as SVP/Programming for the company’s Albany, Poughkeepsie and Sussex NJ clusters. Marino has been based in the Poughkeepsie market since 2006 first hosting mornings on Pamal CHR “K104.7” WSPK then moving to iHeart in 2009 as APD/MD/afternoon host and then PD of CHR “96.1 Kiss-FM” WPKF and rising to Operations Manager of the cluster in 2012 and spending time on air at WRNQ and then WRWD. He added the Regional SVP duties last summer. Earlier in his career, Marino spent time at WHTZ and WPLJ New York, WIOQ and WLCE Philadelphia, WHYI Miami, and WLDI West Palm Beach.
iHeartMedia Hudson Valley NY AC WRNQ (Q92.1) unveiled the newest edition of the Q92 Morning Show today as iHeartMedia Albany Area SVP/Programming Chris Marino segues back to Q92 as new morning host plugging across from co-host Marissa Contelmo to create “Marino in the Morning with Marissa”.
“Chris has established deep roots these last 16 years in the Hudson Valley. He spent 6 years in afternoons on Q92 …and we’re excited to continue the story that is the Q92 Morning Show for the amazing listeners in our community,” said iHeartMedia Hudson Valley Market President Rob VanDerbeck. “As a successful “80s to Now” upbeat variety station, we now have a morning show that reflects that brand between Chris who grew up with that awesome music and his co-host Marissa, who brings that Gen Z perspective each morning. The two of them will continue the morning relationship we’ve built with our community of loyal Q92 Hudson Valley fans.“
In addition to Q92, Marino will continue for the month of March holding down afternoons on sister country station WRWD as the 33rd annual St. Jude Radiothon is happening March 24th & 25th which he will host. After that event, the focus will be on Q92 in addition to his current duties as Albany Area SVPP.
“It’s sort of fulfilling a destiny in that when Joe Daily retired from mornings on Q92 in 2019 the plan was that I would move from afternoons to mornings. But with WPLJ/NY ending it’s run that same year, Anne Marie Leamy was available, and we seized the opportunity to bring her back to her first market to help grow Q92,” said Marino. “She did that and more. With her now enjoying the incredible morning opportunity on WCBS/NY, I’m excited to slide in and build on what we did the past three years with an amazing show cast that includes Marissa, gossip reporter Mike Post, Promotion Director (of Free Stuff) Felicia Kirschner and the great support of Rob and our iHeart Hudson Valley team!”
