WMQZ Brings Classic Hip Hop To Western Illinois

Regional Media has flipped Rock “Woof Rock 104.1” WMQZ Colchester/Macomb IL to Classic Hip Hop “Icon 104.1“.

The company states that the change is “a direct response to the overwhelming local demand for a musical journey back to the influential beats of the 90s and 2000s, a period that saw the meteoric rise of artists who reshaped music history” as it features artists including Eminem, Jay Z, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, and Alicia Keys.

Regional Media COO Darren Brown added, “Hip hop and R&B from the 90s and early 2000s aren’t just music genres; they are cultural phenomena that resonate deeply with our listeners. The local community’s demand for these genres has been overwhelming, signaling a deep connection to the era that many thought was lost. By reintroducing these sounds, we are threading the past into the present in the most melodious way possible.”

WMQZ serves portions of rural western Illinois southeast of Burlington IA.
