WLIW-FM To Expand On Long Island

WNET Public News/Talk 88.3 WLIW-FM Hampton Bays NY will expand its coverage further west across Long Island with the purchase of 96.9 W245BA Manorville.

WNET will acquire the translator from Michael Aliffi’s W245BA Inc. for $150,000. A November 2020 sale of the translator to Michael Kakoyiannis’ MMKAKO Media Services for $10,000 never closed.

W245BA will expand WLIW-FM’s coverage into central Suffolk County where it operates with 10w/144m. The current WLIW-FM signal covers the eastern end of Long Island.

WNET, which owns public television outlets WNET 13 Newark NJ/New York, WLIW 21 Garden City NY, and operates the four station “NJ PBS” network in New Jersey, acquired then 88.3 WPPB in October 2019 for $944,834. The station relaunched as WLIW-FM upon closing in June 2020.
