WKQX Seeking Co-Host For Q101 Morning Crew As Ali Matta Departs

Q101 101 WKQX ChicagoCumulus Media Alternative “Q101” WKQX Chicago’s “Q101 Morning Crew” is on the hunt for a new co-host as ‘Ali Matta’ Mattacola has departed after choosing not to renew her contract.

Producer/co-host Justin Nettlebeck wrote on the show’s Facebook group, “This is change that she wanted and needed for herself. Regardless of how it makes me feel personally, this is Ali chasing her dreams and happiness. (Which is pretty brave and rad.) We always joked about holding her back and that joke still stands today. Ali is great and deserves all the happiness and success this universe has to offer. We are privileged to call her a friend, a sister and it was a blast working beside her. Four years went by in a flash and even though things are different, we are extremely excited to start the next journey.”

Brian Haddad, Mattacola and Nettlebeck had helmed the “Brian, Ali and Justin” show since December 2018. She joined the station from her native Minneapolis after spending nine years at Cumulus Rock “93X” KXXR first in middays and then co-hosting mornings. She has also worked at Alternative 92.9 KJEE Santa Barbara CA and worked in the record industry.

Cumulus is conducting a search for a new co-host for the Morning Crew.
