Magnum Media has flipped Country “Kix 106.5” WKCH Whitewater/Janesville WI to Classic Country “Klassic Country 106.5/94.7“.
The move comes with the addition of a simulcast on 94.7 W234DR Beloit fed by WSJY-HD3 Fort Atkinson. The translator had been rebroadcasting the primary AC format of 107.3 WSJY. The change follows the April move of “Bucky Country” 95.9 WBKY from Portage WI to Stoughton where it also provided the same area with Country programming.
“Klassic Country 106.5/94.7” will feature Magnum Media Director of Engineering Chris ‘Doc’ Tarr in mornings. Before moving to engineering in 2000, Tarr worked on-air at many stations in Wisconsin and Illinois. Tarr said, “Back in 1989, Duke Wright asked me to do weekends on what was then WGEE in Green Bay, which grew to the overnight shift and eventually nights. I developed a real fondness for the format. I often catch myself streaming another Classic Country station in our Magnum group, so when Dave asked me if I’d dust off my headphones, I said, sign me up!”
