Regional Media has relaunched Alternative 106.3 WJSE North Cape May NJ as “Planet 106.3“.
The new brand was developed by the company’s Director of Rock Formats Dave Levora and AC “98.7 The Coast” WCZT and WJSE Program Director Mark Hunter matching the branding used by the company’s “Planet 93.9” KQCJ Cambridge IL/Quad Cities.
WJSE will continue to feature Compass Media Networks’ Dave & Mahoney in mornings, Mark Hunter in middays and Sparks in afternoons.
WJSE had returned to Alternative in November 2020 resurrecting the format with the calls that have had multiple runs Southern New Jersey with its time on 102.7 under multiple identities from 1994-2010 and its first run on 106.3 from 2012-2017.
WJSE The Rock Alternative, a long-standing pillar in the Cape May-Atlantic City radio market, proudly announces its transformation into Planet 106.3 WJSE, Real Alternative Radio starting today. This exciting rebranding signifies a forward-looking, more inclusive approach to radio while staying true to the core content its loyal listeners have grown to love and expect.
“We’re embarking on a thrilling new journey today,” said Kim Maschio, General Manager of Planet 106.3 WJSE. “By infusing the lively spirit and broad appeal of Planet 106.3 into our station, while honoring the heritage of WJSE The Rock Alternative, we’re creating a unique blend of past, present, and future.”
This dynamic rebranding includes an amazing new sound on the air, a new logo and look, and a fully redesigned interactive experience, encapsulating the vibrant personality of the Planet brand in the Cape May-Atlantic City Market. The new format will offer an immersive, user-friendly experience for listeners and users alike.
At the heart of this transformation lies the innovative ‘Planet’ format, masterfully programmed by radio veteran and Regional Media’s Rock Formats Director Dave Levora and implemented locally by favorite Mark Hunter. This novel approach to radio expands beyond the rock genre, offering an eclectic mix of music, top-tier entertainment, and engaging community outreach programs. Their combined efforts create a synergy that ensures the new format resonates with the local audience while also setting a new standard for radio.
“Dave and Mark’s collaboration is creating a seamless transition into our new format,” Maschio added. “Their combined expertise and understanding of our local market are what makes this rebranding truly exciting. We believe their efforts will redefine radio, not just for us, but for stations nationwide.”
