Saga Communications closed on its acquisition of Standards 1520 WIZZ/100.5 W263DE Greenfield MA on Wednesday and flipped the station to a simulcast of its “Pure Oldies 96.9” W245BK Amherst/WLZX-HD3 Northampton.
Saga agreed to purchase WIZZ from Phil Drumheller’s P&M Radio last July for $61,800. The closing of the sale marked the end of Drumheller’s 70 year radio career as the closing took place following his final morning show on the station. Drumheller began his radio career in high school in 1953 and has spent it all in Central Massachusetts. He had owned WIZZ since 2003.
WIZZ becomes Saga’s sixth signal in Greenfield joining “Bear Country 95.3” WPVQ-FM, AC 98.3 WHAI, Soft AC “EZ 107.5” W298CA/WPVQ-HD2, Classic Country “Outlaw 92.3” 700 WPVQ/W222CH, and Liberal Talk 1240 WHMQ (simulcasting 1400 WHMP Northampton)
