Ahead of the closing of its $250,000 acquisition of 107.1 WIRO Ironton OH from KW Ministries, Total Media Group has begun stunting on the station as Christmas “Ho Ho Radio“.
The deal ends over five years of the station operating as non-commercial running Educational Media Foundation’s Contemporary Worship “Air 1” network under EMF and KW Ministries ownership. A permanent format will debut after the holidays featuring Ironton native JB Miller in mornings. Miller most recently spent thirteen years in mornings at Kindred Communications Classic Country “101.5 Big Buck Country” WXBW Gallipolis OH/Huntington WV until exiting in September during a budget cut. Miller’s 46 year radio career has included time at many Huntington stations as well as WKRC Cincinnati and WODJ Grand Rapids.
Total Media Group VP/General Manager Gary Mincer told the Ironton Tribune, “I’m not going to divulge what format we’re going to after that, but just know it will be hyper-focused on Ironton—sports, local news, happening events and fun. We’re going to surprise everybody after the holidays with a new format.”
