After host Jeff ‘JV’ Vandergrift was reported missing on Thursday evening, iHeartMedia CHR “Wild 94.9” KYLD San Francisco morning co-hosts Selena and Graham began the morning show in tears trying share what little details they knew and asking listeners to call in to share their thoughts and feelings.
The station also provided a brief update stating that there has been no trackable activity on his cell phone or activity on his credit cards or any other banking records since his disappearance. He and wife Natasha Yi had taken a long sabbatical from September 2021 until April 2022 due to complications from Lyme Disease. The latest post on the show’s Facebook page from last September is a long essay from Vandergrift explaining the changes in brain chemistry it caused leading to suicidal thoughts.
Ahead of his disappearance, Vandergrift edited an old Instagram post changing the text to say, “Thank you for a wonderful life-filed w joy, laughs, pain & struggle. It’s been a great journey. Your support & prayers meant the world. Keep shinin’ love= compassion= understanding = truth= forgiveness= peace= and hope=for others.”
Vandergrift has been leading “The JV Show” at KYLD since 2009. He had a previous run at the station as “The Doghouse” teaming with Dan ‘Elvis Medina’ Lay from 1995 to 2005. The duo originally were paired together at “Hot 97.7” KHQT San Jose in 1993 and later had a stint in middays at “92.3 Free-FM” WFNY-FM New York and and “106.9 Free-FM” KIFR San Francisco. He and Lay would briefly reteam for an afternoon talk show on 910 KKSF in 2015, while continuing to host mornings at KYLD.
Jeffrey Vandergrift was last seen at his residence on the 200 block of King St in SF on 2/23 at 10 PM.
