iHeartMedia CHR “Hits 96.1” WHQC Shelby/Charlotte NC is the most recent station to move into a more gold-based direction.
The move, which began the day before Thanksgiving, comes with the station repositioning as “Charlotte’s Party Station”. Top rotations of currents have dropped from around 130 spins-per-week to the high 70s. The move matches similar music and positioning changes iHeartMedia has made at WZFT Baltimore and WKFS Cincinnati in recent months.
WHQC had a 2.0 share in the October 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings trailing Beasley Media’s “Kiss 95.1” WNKS’s 3.3 share.
