Nexstar News/Talk 720 WGN Chicago has announced it has signed morning host Bob Sirott to a multi-year contract extension.
Sirott began his current run at WGN in January 2020. He previously hosted “The Noon Show” from 2007-2010 and then co-hosted middays with his wife Marianne Murciano from September 2013 until 2015. Sirott and Murciano would later spend 2017 as late morning hosts at Cumulus Media’s 890 WLS. His long resume in Chicago media also includes seven years hosting afternoons at Top 40 powerhouse WLS in the 1970’s and television news anchoring at WBBM-TV, WMAQ-TV, WTTW, and WFLD.
Sirott commented, “Management has given me a terrific on-air and behind-the-scenes team, plus freedom to do whatever I want. That’s why waking up at 4:30 am is fun now. Actually…that last line is a lie.”
WGN VP/General Manager Mary Sandberg Boyle said, “Bob’s work ethic, focus and character is the stuff of legends in the broadcast industry. He’s an excellent communicator and continues to strategically engage and connect with the WGN Radio audience daily. Bob is one of the best in the business and we’re proud to have him as part of the WGN Radio team.”
