After upgrading its FM simulcast from a translator to the Class C3 92.7 signal at the beginning of March, Radio One Sports 92.7 WFNZ-FM Harrisburg/Charlotte NC is no longer being heard at its original home of 610 WFNZ Charlotte.
610 WFNZ is currently simulcasting Hip Hop “102.5 The Block” W273DA Charlotte/105.3 WOSF-HD2 Gaffney SC reuniting the two signals that had been home of the Sports format from 2016 until the move to 92.7 at the start of March.
The flip comes just a couple weeks after the 610 signal marked its 30th anniversary with a Sports format. The station flipped to Sports on August 31, 1992 while still utilizing the WAQS call letters. After becoming co-owned with Classic Rock “99.7 The Fox” WRFX-FM in 1993, the station would become known as “Fox 610 Sports” WRFX until November 1995, when mergers and divestitures would split the stations and it would become WFNZ.
Listen to a firey Panther Monday after the team’s ninth straight loss on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ. Remember that at 12:00 AM tonight, the 610 AM signal will no longer be WFNZ. Instead, make sure that you are tuned in on 92.7 FM, the WFNZ, Auducy or TuneIn apps or the web player.
