WFMS Debuts Indy’s Morning Show with Deb, Kevin & Matt

Following the retirement of Jim Denny after 35 years with the station last month, Cumulus Media Country 95.5 WFMS Indianapolis has debuted “Indy’s Morning Show with Deb, Kevin & Matt”.

Denny’s longtime co-hosts Deb Honeycutt and Kevin Freeman remain in place and are now joined by Matt Malone, who moves from afternoons at the station. Freeman has been with WFMS since 1990 and Honeycutt since 2000. Malone joined the station in August 2022 after serving as Program Director and morning host at “97.5 Y Country” WYTZ St. Joseph MI. He has also worked at Mid-West Family’s Eau Claire WI cluster and part-time at Cumulus Grand Rapids and “Q106” WWQM Madison WI. With his move to mornings, Malone adds Assistant Program Director duties at the station.

103.3 Country” WKDF Nashville APD/afternoon host Tyler Reese is now listed in afternoons at WFMS as Cumulus continues the search for a new Program Director/afternoon host.

Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that Country radio personality Matt Malone joins Cumulus Indianapolis’ 95.5 WFMS-FM morning show today as Co-Host, with longtime Co-Hosts, Deb Honeycutt and Kevin Freeman. The newly named “Indy’s Morning Show with Deb, Kevin & Matt,” debuted this morning and airs Monday through Friday from 6:00am-10:00am. In addition, Malone adds Assistant Program Director stripes for the station.

Malone moves to mornings from his previous role as On-Air Host, Afternoons, on 95.5 WFMS. He steps into the role previously held by Country Hall of Famer Jim Denny, who retired from radio at year-end after a successful 35-year run at WFMS.

Darlene Park, Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Indianapolis, said: “Our goal is to put together an authentic, caring, funny morning show that will entertain and engage the incredible listeners of WFMS. Adding Matt to the legendary lineup with Deb and Kevin checks all the boxes and we are very excited for this next chapter.”

Mike Killabrew, Operations Manager, Cumulus Indianapolis, noted: “Deb, Kevin and Matt’s tremendous chemistry carves out a new path and companionship for morning drive in Indianapolis.”

Matt Malone commented: “It is an honor to be on legendary WFMS with Deb and Kevin. The chemistry we naturally have as friends will translate tenfold with listeners. I am a fan of theirs as people, first and foremost, and could not ask for better partners heading into this exciting new adventure.”

Deb Honeycutt added: “I’m thrilled to kick off the new show and knew Matt would fit right in when he gifted Kevin expired concert tickets for his birthday! Matt’s amazing work ethic and passion for connecting with our listeners is magical. Let the fun begin!”

Kevin Freeman remarked: “I am so excited to be working with Matt. Jim was like the big brother I never had, and Matt is like the little brother I always wanted. Stay tuned for a fun show!”
