For the second time this year, Waterloo Media has launched a new format on 102.7 K274AX Austin as the translator has flipped from Spanish CHR “Mega 102.7” to Sports “ESPN 102.7“.
The new brand becomes the third Sports station in the market joining Genuine Austin Radio’s “104.9 The Horn” KTXX-FM Bee Cave and iHeartMedia’s “1300 The Zone” KVET. The station will feature local programming including sister “101X” KROX-FM hosts Jason Dick and CJ Morgan and 590/99.7 KLBJ afternoon Sports hosts Ed Clements and B-Doe.
The now former Spanish CHR format had just debuted in January replacing the then 8 month old Rhythmic AC “The Vibe 102.7” brand. Mega registered a 1.2 share in the June 2022 Nielsen Audio ratings trending up from 0.4 and 0.9 the previous two months.
