WAMU Appoints Tom Hudson As Chief Content Officer

WLRN Miami VP/News and Special Correspondent Tom Hudson is joining American University’s 88.5 WAMU Washington DC as Chief Content Officer.

Hudson has been with WLRN since 2013 after previously serving as co-anchor and Managing Editor for PBS’ Nightly Business Report. He also held that same role for First Business TV and was a host, producer and reporter for WebFN. Hudson also was the final morning anchor at News 670 WMAQ Chicago, has filled in at WLS and WGN, and is a regular contributor to Audacy’s 780 WBBM Chicago.

He fills the opening created by Monna Kashfi’s move to Welcome.US as Vice President of content and communications in February.

Beginning August 15, Tom Hudson will join WAMU as its new Chief Content Officer. Tom currently serves as the Vice President of News and Special Correspondent at WLRN in Southern Florida. He led the organization’s news engagement strategy and hosted and produced a local news show. Mr. Hudson brings a wealth of experience in journalism, broadcasting, and public media.

Tom’s broad experience includes serving as a managing editor, host, and producer for public media shows. He was co-anchor and managing editor for National Business Report which covered topics including Federal Reserve interest rate policies and global trade. Tom has also served as host and managing editor of the nationally syndicated financial television program First Business.

In addition, Tom has served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Miami’s Department of Journalism and has also been a columnist for The Miami Herald and McClatchy News Service.

Mr. Hudson was chosen from a strong pool of candidates but his rich exposure to so many aspects of public radio, journalism, reporting, and hosting was unsurpassed. Tom will join WAMU on August 15.
