Virgin Radio UK hires new producers for daytime and evening output

Virgin Radio UK has appointed new producers for its daytimes and evenings shows, with Connor Drew producing dayimes and Alex Hughes to produce evenings.

Connor has worked at Virgin Radio UK since 2017, most recently as an Assistant Producer on projects like Virgin Radio Pride UK and Steve Denyer’s evening show.

Previously Connor was a producer and presenter at Westminster University Student radio station – Smoke Radio.

Alex Hughes joins the team from Bauer Media where he was Producer for the Steve and Karen Breakfast Show on Metro Radio and TFM. Previously Alex was a Producer on Hits Radio and Station Manager for Salford University’s student radio station – Shock Radio.

Alex was named in The Radio Academy 30 Under 30 in 2020.

Virgin Radio UK Content Director, Mike Cass said: “Connor and Alex are extremely talented producers and will excel in their new roles on the station. We have a top class team at Virgin Radio UK and I’m delighted to promote Connor after all his hard work and welcome Alex to the team.”

Connor Drew said: “Since I joined Virgin Radio UK on work experience in 2017, it has been a dream to work my way through the ranks to become a producer. I’m so excited to be producing daytimes with Eddy-Temple Morris, Tim Cocker and Kate Lawler – we’re going to have lots of fun with our listeners.”

Alex Hughes said: “I’m really excited to join Virgin Radio UK – the network is full of talented people on air and off and I’m delighted to be working closely with Steve Denyer and Amy Voce.”
