Viking FM reunion planned for 40th anniversary

Viking FM staff old and new are invited to gather to celebrate the 40th birthday of the radio station for East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

The event has been organised by former Marketing Manager Alana Ennis and former presenters Darren Lethem and Ben Wrigley.

It will be held on Saturday 13th April in Hull City Centre with ex staff gathering to share a few memories, listen to old audio and enjoy a live disco with a few of the ex jocks taking to the turntables.

With the recent announcement from Bauer that all its heritage FM stations will soon be known as Hits Radio, it is the last chance to have a celebration under that station name.

Viking FM’s first breakfast show presenter Dave Fewster passed away in October last year and this moment won’t be forgotten.

Darren says: “The evening isn’t just about remembering the times we had at Commercial Road but also remembering the staff who have sadly passed. A glass will be raised in memory of Dave and those no longer with us.”

Invitations have been sent via a Facebook group but any ex Viking FM staff, not on the platform, or are unaware of the event can contact the organising team via email VikingRadio40@gmail.com.
