SummitMedia has announced the appointment of Victor Starr as Director of Programming and Operations for its Omaha cluster and Program Director of CHR “Channel 94.1” KQCH.
Starr most recently programmed Audacy Rhythmic CHR “KS 107.5” KQKS from March 2016 until July 2020 after previously spending a year in sales at the cluster. He previously programmed WZMX Hartford, WERQ Baltimore, WWVB/WWUZ Fredericksburg and WJHM Orlando and was Executive Director for the Donnie Simpson Morning Show at WPGC Washington DC.
He fills the opening created by Matt Derrick’s departure over the summer.
SummitMedia has named Victor Starr as Director of Programming and Operations for the company’s Omaha cluster, effective November 8. He’ll also serve as the Program Director for CHR KQCH.
Most recently, Starr was the Brand Manager for Audacy’s KQKS-FM and KQKS-FM-HD2 in Denver. While there, he won the Colorado Broadcast Association’s Best Public Service Announcement in 2020 — “COVID is Real.” He’s also been named a Billboard Major Market Program Director of the Year.
“Victor’s vast background and experience make him the perfect individual to lead our programming team,” said Market President Rick Parrish. “His leadership will help the continuing growth of each of our stations, with our audiences and our overall ratings.”
“I am very excited to join a fantastic team in Omaha. The brands are great, the team is top notch and I am ready to help take the cluster to the next level of success,” added Starr. “A huge thank you to Rick Thomas, Randy Chase and Rick Parrish for this amazing opportunity.”
Starr will oversee KXSP (AM 590 ESPN), KQCH (Channel 94.1), KKCD (Classic Rock 105.9), KSRZ (Star 104.5) and KEZO (Z-92).
