The Walt Disney Company’s ESPN Inc. continues its divestment of its radio properties with the sale of “ESPN Dallas” 103.3 KESN Allen TX to VCY America for $9.2 million.
ESPN reclaimed direct operation of KESN in October 2020 after previously LMAing the station to Cumulus Media for seven years. At that time all local programs were cancelled and the station has run the national ESPN Radio lineup since.
The Wisconsin based Christian network has already filed to convert KESN to non-commercial operation. KESN becomes VCY’s second station in Texas joining 92.7 KVCE Staton/Lubbock. The group has been focusing its growth in the Southwest and Sun Belt in recent years adding stations in markets such as Albuquerque, Phoenix, Tucson plus its pending deal to acquire Ed Stolz’ stations in Las Vegas, Palm Springs, and San Francisco.
The sale of KESN follows ESPN’s divestment of its New York, Los Angeles and Chicago stations to Good Karma Brands. These sales leave only 1110 KRDC Pasadena/Los Angeles in the Walt Disney Company’s radio holdings.
