Ofcom will have at least two applications for the small-scale DAB digital radio multiplex for Bedford.
Bedford Digital Radio will apply for the licence along with Bedford DAB, both with local links to the area.
A local online station called Bedford Radio is behind the bid by Bedford Digital Radio, founded by Martin Steers and Anita Powell.
The Bedford DAB project is led by presenter Tony Dibbin along with engineer Ian Hickling and radio professional Nik Fox.
