TuneIn Launches Graphical ‘Explorer’ Interface

TuneIn AppTuneIn has launched a new graphical interface to find streaming radio stations via map.

TuneIn Explorer allows users to navigate its database geographically and filter by genre/format. The feature is currently available only on TuneIn.com, but will soon launch on the platform’s apps.

TuneIn, the world’s leading live-streaming audio service, announced today the launch of TuneIn Explorer, a new interactive map that allows listeners to easily discover live radio content from around the globe. TuneIn Explorer gives listeners access to a global view of available radio programming from TuneIn’s extensive catalog of stations from nearly every country in the world in one, easy-to-navigate feature.

From popular national and global radio stations to hometown favorites, listeners can navigate available radio programming by scrolling and panning in or out of the interactive world map to find a specific region — then select a station to start listening immediately. Filters allow listeners to customize their experience and focus on their favorite categories and genres, including news, talk, sports and music, or see stations broadcasting in top languages.

“What better way to celebrate World Radio Day than to give TuneIn listeners access to the world’s vast array of radio stations at their fingertips,” said Richard Stern, CEO of TuneIn. “TuneIn Explorer allows listeners to engage with radio in a powerful way they never have before. From folk music in Greece or news in Norway to a favorite hometown station, TuneIn Explorer transforms radio listening into an emotionally driven experience. It gives listeners the freedom to explore, discover and make radio something truly their own.”

TuneIn Explorer is initially launching on the company’s website at tunein.com, with mobile app accessibility to follow shortly. Regardless of the device with which a listener engages with TuneIn Explorer the experience remains the same. Simply click on the country or region one is curious about, pinch to zoom in or out and click on the station that piques their imagination. This experience is designed to be fun and easy.

TuneIn listeners are encouraged to enter the map with curiosity and creativity. Do Germans really listen to David Hasselhoff? Click and pinch to put that mystery to rest. Going off to college and want to get an idea of what the area is into? Pinch and click to find out. Stressful day and want to escape to Paris? Pinch and click to enter that bistro. TuneIn Explorer opens up the radio experience in a way most have never felt before.
TuneIn Explorer is available now on the web at http://tunein.com/explorer to anyone on TuneIn. Premium subscribers can enjoy a nearly ad-free experience, plus access to exclusive content.
