Tributes paid to former CFM presenter and CN Radio IT manager Martin Reay

Martin Reay, a former Group IT Manager for CN Radio Group and a presenter on CFM, has died after an ongoing health battle.

He worked in radio around Cumbria for over 20 years, starting off by working weekends on CFM. Martin then managed the tech for nine radio stations including The Bay in Lancaster and Citybeat Belfast in his role at Cumbrian Newspapers.

He was also on the Board of Carlisle’s new community radio station when it won a five-year licence from Ofcom.

Martin worked as a vocalist, was in a band, and most recently worked in local government.

His sibling Sam wrote: “Just to let those of you who don’t know my brother Martin Reay passed away early this afternoon. Mum, dad and I are absolutely heartbroken but he is at peace now. Love you mart xxxxxx.”

Martin’s friend and colleague Rafe Parker paid tribute, saying: “Martin was one of the most genuinely nice people you could meet.

“His passion for radio was matched only by his obsession with F1. He will be greatly missed by friends, colleagues past and present, and all who were lucky enough to have had him as part of their lives.”

Many tributes have been posted on his Facebook profile page here.
