Townsquare Media’s Tri Cities Divestiture Trust has turned in the license of the former Classic Hits “97.5 Kool-FM” KOLW Basin City/Kennewick WA.
Overseen by trustee Alan Blum, the trust was created in 2022 following Townsquare’s purchase of Cherry Creek Media that brought both company’s clusters in the Kennewick/Richland/Pasco market together. At the time of closing, Townsquare moved KOLW’s CHR “Kiss-FM” format to 105.3 KONA-FM Kennewick and flipped KOLW to Classic Hits “97.5 Kool-FM” resurrecting the branding heard on the station from 2004 to 2013. That programming would remain until the station was taken silent in January with Blum noting, “Due to economic conditions in the market, the licensee was forced to take the station off the air temporarily. The licensee respectfully requests special temporary authority for the station to remain silent. The licensee will promptly notify the Commission when it is able to resume station operations.”
Townsquare’s Kennewick/Richland/Pasco cluster includes: Regional Mexican “La Super 92.5” KZHR, “97 Rock” 97.1 KXRX, Hot AC “98.3 The Key” KEYW, Country 102.7 KORD, CHR “105.3 Kiss-FM” KONA-FM, News/Talk 610 KONA, News/Talk 870/98.7 KFLD, and the Pacific Northwest AG Network.
