After departing as SummitMedia earlier this month as Vice President of Country Programming and Talent Development and Program Director of Country 104.7 WZZK Birmingham after just seven months, Tom Hanrahan is launching talent coaching agency CoachedUP.
Hanrahan noted, “Talent coaching has always been my passion! Talent are the most important asset on our station, but consistently coaching them falls to the bottom of PD’s list of tasks each day. Same for owners and OM’s…everyone is spread so thin…coaching is just an afterthought.”
CoachedUP is a dream of mine built of decades of experience working one to one with talent from all market sizes. I believe you can bring the best out of talent when they’re coached with a positive approach. That doesn’t mean you don’t hold them accountable…you do every step of the way. My goal is to create a safe environment where the talent know they can make mistakes while we work together on building stronger relationships with their listeners with consumer-focused content, proper role work and maximizing shared life experiences.”
Hanrahan spent two decades at iHeartMedia Birmingham as Senior Vice President of Programming where he also served as PD/afternoon host at Country “102.5 The Bull” WDXB Pelham and AC “Magic 96.5” WMJJ until his exit in August 2022. Hanrahan has also previously served as OM of Clear Channel Panama City FL, Program Director of “South 106.1” WSTH Columbus GA, and has worked on-air at multiple Birmingham stations including WMJJ, WZZK, WODL, and WKXX during his career.
