The ticket pricing for the British Podcast Awards 2023 ceremony has been changed after complaints from some of the nominees.
Initially there was one rate of around £300 for an individual ticket, which some of the smaller companies or individuals nominated said they couldn’t afford.
I was at the first British Podcast Awards. It cost (I think) £10 a ticket. There was a fun, community party element that you only get when lots of people with a passion get together to celebrate their common love.
I can’t afford a ticket this year. That’s probably for the best. https://t.co/7Lh55k9MnF

British Podcast Awards Mini : For an independent company like @StakPod, the British Podcast Awards are expensive, extortionately so. For us to enter even 50% of our shows, with the ticket entry and entertaining that comes along with it, it costs near £2000.

Ok, now it’s been a day of excitement about the nomination –
With these fees, the British Podcast Awards have all but stated they are not interested in low income workers attending their events. They do not want us there. (1/3)

The organisers say they have listened to feedback from across the podcast community who said the pricing needed to reflect company size to improve accessibility.
Following this, tiered ticket prices have been introduced for small, medium or large companies, in line with the cost of award entries, which is also tiered.
Prices had been increased due to the ceremony being changed from an outdoor event during the day to central London venue in the evening, with food, drink and entertainment, a DJ and after-party included, plus the BPAs investment in marketing, publicity support and online write-ups for the winners afterwards.
The new ticket prices:
- Small company: £118+VAT (£141.60)
- Medium company: £165+VAT (£198)
- Large company £255+VAT (£306)
A medium-sized company has a turnover between £100K and £250K and a large company has a turnover above £250K.
Every Rising Star nominee and small company entrant, with a turnover below £100,000, who has been shortlisted qualifies for a free bursary place this year and are being informed individually.
