Grant Merrill and Ben Buckland’s Southwest Media Group has sold Country 100.3 KOMX, Classic Rock 103.3 KDRL, and Full Service AC 1230 KGRO Pampa TX to local businessmen Jason Scott and Troy Schwiegerath for the assumption of a $143,873.65 promissory note with an LMA to take effect on September 1.
The buyers operate a local movie theatre and have other businesses in the area. Merrill stated, “We are pleased to announce the sale of these legendary radio stations to local owners. Jason and Troy are well respected in Pampa and care deeply about the community. We are grateful to our listeners and advertisers who have supported us during our ownership of the station and wish the new owners nothing but the best in this new endeavor.”
Southwest Media Group had purchased the three stations in June 2022 for $200,000. Following the closing, the company will retain Oldies 800 KDDD Dumas/103.5 K278DB Borger and Classic Country 95.3 KDDD-FM Dumas/96.5 K243CE Amarillo.
With the sale, Market Manager Joel Burke has exited. Burke joined Southwest Media Group in February after a career in programming that has included stops at 98.3 KORA-FM Bryan, KCBI-FM Dallas, KAMX, KASE, KKMJ and KVET-FM Austin, KYGO Denver, and WRVR Memphis.
