The SoCal Sound Promotes Julie Slater To Music Director

Cal State University Northridge and Saddleback University AAA “88.5 The SoCal Sound” KCSN Northridge/KSBR Mission Viejo CA has promoted midday host Julie Slater to Music Director.

Slater takes the MD duties that had been held by Andy Chanley until his move to Audacy AAA 93.1 WXRT Chicago last month. She has hosted middays at KCSN/KSBR since March 2022 after previously serving as a weekend host. Slater is also known for her decade in middays at “92.3 K-Rock” WXRK New York from 1996 to 2006 and eight years at “100.3 The Sound” KSWD Los Angeles from 2008 to 2016.

“I feel like everything has come full circle for me, and I am in my total dream job,” said Slater, who will continue as The SoCal Sound’s midday host. “Being on air, discovering new music and giving a voice to the LA music scene is what I live for. I am so proud of where SoCal Sound General Manager Patrick Osburn and Program Director ‘Mookie’ Kaczor have taken the station, and I am grateful to be a bigger part of its expanding future. I also can’t wait to get my pretty little paws on that ‘add’ button.”

Program Director Marc ‘Mookie’ Kaczor added, “We didn’t have to look far to find the best candidate for the music director position. Julie is one of the most passionate broadcasters and music fans I know.” General Manager Patrick Osburn concurred, “From New York to LA, Julie Slater has continued to demonstrate she has great chops in front of and behind the mic. She will be a great music director.”
