Audacy News 1010 WINS/92.3 WINS-FM New York has promoted Susan Richard to lead morning anchor.
Richard has been anchoring the back half-hours in mornings since 2021 after serving as weekend anchor from 1998-2006, evening anchor from 2006-2012 and midday anchor from 2012-2021. Prior to joining WINS, Richard held roles as a news anchor for Shadow Traffic, hosted weekends at AC 98.3 WKJY Hempstead NY, and spent over a decade at AC 103.9 WFAS-FM White Plains NY with time as an anchor, DJ, Music Director and Program Director.
Richard takes the spot that had been held by Lee Harris until his move to an executive role at NewsNation in early May.
Audacy has elevated Susan Richard to top-of-the-hour morning news anchor on 1010/92.3 WINS (WINS-AM/92.3 FM) in New York. Richard will be the third person to anchor morning drive and the first woman to hold the position in the station’s 58-year history.
“Nothing says New York like 1010 WINS, and as both a life-long New Yorker and 25-year WINS veteran, I am thrilled and grateful to be the first woman chosen to fill this key on-air role,” said Richard. “The news watch never stops, and I look forward to serving our listeners in the city I know and love with the continuing commitment to broadcast excellence embodied by our entire staff.”
“Not only is Susan a quintessential New Yorker and a brilliant anchor and journalist, but she will also forever serve as an inspiration and beacon of empowerment for all women who aspire to reach the highest on-air levels in the industry,” said Ivan Lee, Brand Manager, 1010/92.3 WINS. “We are beyond thrilled for her and this history-making moment.”
A native New Yorker, Richard joined 1010 WINS in 1998. Before that, she was the Program Director at WFAS-FM, a weekend personality at K-JOY 98.3 on Long Island, and a freelance News Anchor at WQCD and New Jersey 101.5. She also has voiceover and narration credits for ABC’s “All My Children,” ABC Radio Network, and GrassRoots Environmental Education Video. Since 2009, she has hosted the video web show “All for Animals,” which supports animal rescue, and she has served as an emcee for gala fundraisers for Animal Care Centers of NYC and elsewhere. She co-hosts 1010 WINS’ 4th of July coverage with Larry Mullins and provides news on NEW 102.7 (WNEW-FM) each weekday morning.
Additional morning team announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
