SummitMedia Surrenders Honolulu AMs

AM 940 KKNE 650 KPRP Honolulu SummitMediaSummitMedia has abandoned the AM band in Honolulu as it has turn in the licenses of two stations in the market.

SummitMedia has surrendered 650 KPRP Honolulu and 940 KKNE Waipahu. Both stations shared a tower site with both stations operating with 10kW day and night. KPRP, which had been operated via LMA to Pinoy Power Media with Filipino programming until early 2021, was then silent until last February followed by an STA to operate with just 1kW due to a faulty transmitter. KKNE featured traditional Hawaiian music.

SummitMedia continues to own four FMs in Honolulu: AC “Krater 96.3” KRTR-FM Honolulu, Hawaiian Pop “FM 100” KCCN-FM Honolulu, Rhythmic CHR “Power 104.3” KPHW Kaneohe, and Hawaiian AC “Hawaiian 105” KINE-FM Honolulu.
