Steve Power to host Breakfast and Drive on Wave 105 rival stations

Former Wave 105 Drive presenter Steve Power is joining Nation Broadcasting to host Breakfast on Easy Radio and Drive on Nation Radio South.

After 25 years at Wave, Steve left Bauer along with most of the staff when it switched to Greatest Hits Radio four weeks ago.

Nation’s founder and Chairman Jason Bryant told RadioToday: “There was one presenter we wanted when Wave closed and I’m delighted that we got our man!

“Steve Power is a radio legend across the South and, after 25 years entertaining listeners across Southampton, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Chichester and the Isle of Wight, we know they will loyally follow him to Nation Radio.”

Steve added: “I’m so pleased that my radio adventure in the South continues and I extend an invitation to listeners who will want to join me at Nation Radio.

“It’s a fantastic station with the best variety of hits – from the best of today to the greatest hits of all time. I’m so looking forward to joining Nation Radio’s amazing presenter line up of Neil Fox, Russ Williams and Greg Burns.”

Steve’s former co-host Selina Ross has also found alternative work – she starts on weekday afternoons at DevonAir Radio from 2pm today.

Stewart Dennis, commercial director for Nation’s South Coast stations said: “Steve is a fantastic addition to our team and we know listeners and advertisers across the South will warmly welcome his return to the airwaves.

“Since Wave 105 closed, we’ve been inundated with messages from former Wave listeners who have already transferred their allegiance to Nation Radio. Steve’s arrival at Nation will turbocharge our audience growth targets and help us achieve our commercial goals.”

Steve Power starts on Nation Radio South (106 FM and DAB across the South, 106.6FM in Bournemouth and Winchester between 3pm and 7pm) and Easy Radio on Wednesday 1st May (DAB across the South or 107.8FM in Southampton, 107.4FM in Portsmouth and 107.2FM in Winchester between 6am and 11am).
