Stations from across South Wales have come together to support an intensive 60-hour fundraising appeal for children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan.
The When your world stops fundraising appeal aims to raise £350,000 in just 60 hours, with all donations made to the charity during that time being match-funded, meaning that one donation will have double the impact.
Community Stations Bro Radio, GTFM and Rhondda Radio, are all supporting the campaign, alongside online stations South Wales One and Pure West Radio plus hospital radio service Radio Glamorgan
The involvement of the station has been led by Bro Radio in the Vale of Glamorgan. The station’s team has utilised content created by the Hospice to produce five adverts which will be broadcast across the stations during the appeal period which started at 10am today, Sunday 26th November.
The appeal has the story of Ammanford-born Alfi Morris at its heart. Tŷ Hafan was recommended to his parents Sara and Jason when Alfi was 9 months old. The family visited the hospice for their first and only short break stay just before Christmas 2014, where they were able to relax a little as a family knowing Alfi’s medical needs would be cared for.
Bro Radio Operations Director Nathan Spackman said “With the Tŷ Hafan hospice being based within our area, we’re always keen to support its fundraising appeals, recently helping to host its Dark Run event on Barry Island.”
“I’m delighted that stations from across South Wales have been willing to give up some airtime to support this intensive fundraising appeal.”
John Lowes, Head of Fundraising for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, says: “We are immensely grateful to the Morris family for their bravery and generosity in sharing their story to help us to raise as much money as possible. We’re also really thankful that so many stations across South Wales have come together to promote this crucial fundraising campaign.
“To get involved, please sign up to be an appeal champion now and share information about the appeal on your social media and with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours so that we can let as many people know as possible that it is happening.”
Anyone looking to donate to the appeal can do so online at charityextra.com/whenyourworldstops or call the Charities Supporter Care Team on 02920 532 255, between 10 am on Sunday, November 26 and 10pm Tuesday, November 28 to make a donation.
