98.3 Hot FM WFHT Grace WZGR PortsmouthIn a deal not yet filed with the FCC, Strong Tower Christian Media will acquire CHR “98.3 Hot-FM” WIRO Garrison KY/Portsmouth OH from Fowler Media Partners for an undisclosed amount. The buyers own two stations in the Dayton OH market and are also acquiring a translator in Zanesville OH (see below).

Fowler Media Partners, LLC of Ohio has announced the sale of WIRO-FM (Garrison-Portsmouth, Ohio) to Strong Tower Christian Media of Xenia, Ohio.

The Sale which is pending final FCC Approval will return the frequency to its original purpose as a non-commercial license and Christian Format.

Presently, Strong Tower Christian media owns and operates 50,000 watt Hope 100.7 WEEC Springfield/Dayton and 50,000 watt 93.7 The Light WFCJ Miamisburg /Dayton and Greater Cincinnati.

“Strong Tower Christian Media is excited about coming to the tri-state area with our Southern Gospel Hits format. This is an answer to prayer as we’ve been asking God to expand our territory for His glory! This is a new market for us and we’re beyond thrilled about reaching new listeners”, says Tracy Figley, President of Strong Tower.

Strong Tower will begin operating the station through an LMA in the coming weeks.

Bryan Fowler represented Fowler Media Partners, LLC in this transaction and Tracy Figley represented Strong Tower Christian Media.

Chris Murray’s P.B. Broadcasting of Georgia will purchase Ploener Radio Group for $10. The deal involves Classic Hits “Fox-FM” 1090 WBAF/104.9 W285FK Barnesville and 1370 WFDR Manchester GA, and Hip Hop “Streetz 94.5” WFDR-FM Woodbury GA which is leased to Steve Hegwood’s Core Communicators. Murray, who also owns four and operates other stations across Georgia, already serves as General Manager of Ploener Radio Group whose owner Paul Ploener passed away earlier this year.

KGAY PSP adds a second AM in Palm Springs with the acquisition of 1400 KESQ Indio from News Press & Gazette’s Gulf-California Broadcast Company for $8500 with the deal only including the license and transmission equipment of the station. KESQ currently simulcasts Regional Mexican “La Poderosa 96.7” KUNA-FM La Quinta. The buyer owns LGBTQ+ Dance “106.5 KGAY” 1270 KGAY/106.5 K293CL Thousand Palms.

Great Lakes Radio Inc. sells Classic Rock 92.7 WRPP Manistique and 98.7 W254AG Escanaba MI to Aurora Media for $200,000. The Todd Mohr led company will begin operating the station via LMA as it joins a cluster that includes Soft AC 680 WDBC/94.5 W233CT Escanaba, Country “Kix 104.7” WYKX Escanaba and Silent 103.9 W280GB Escanaba.

Great Plains Christian Radio will acquire CHR 104.5 KZZW Mooreland OK from Brooke Deann Williams for $150,000.

Thomas Troland’s Desert Explorer Communication LLC sells Classic Rock “Redrock 103.5” KPGX Navajo Mountain UT to non-profit Across Nations for $70,000. The buyer operates a network of Christian stations targeting the Navajo and Hopi Nations.

Translator Sales

Vic Michael’s Mountain Community Translators sells 99.1 K256CT Denver CO to Boulder Community Broadcast Association for $50,000. The translator will rebroadcast the buyer’s Community 1390 KGNU Denver.

Strong Tower Christian Media also will acquire 103.3 W277BV Zanesville OH from Spirit Communications for $32,000.
