Small-scale DAB multiplex operator UK DAB Networks has started proceedings for Voluntary Liquidation.
The company currently operates live services in Winchester and Basingstoke, and has interest in a number of others.
It’s the first time a main small-scale DAB operator has had to wind-up due to financial difficulties, with owner and long-serving DAB operator Ash Elford saying he’s gutted he could get the business work.
In a note to service providers, Ash said: “On a personal level, I am gutted that it has come to this having spent the last 8 years working hard on small scale DAB.
“I am disappointed that I have not been able to make a success of Winchester and Basingstoke. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t make this business viable.”
The future of the Winchester and Basingstoke small scale DAB multiplex is now in the hands of the liquidation team, which will either end in a transfer of ownership or closure of the multiplexes.
Ofcom has been informed and any enquiries about UK DAB Networks (Operations) Ltd should be addresssed to Stones & Co.
