Slacker & Steve Show Coming To An End At KALC As Steve Weed Preps Departure

After eighteen years in afternoons at Audacy Hot AC “Alice 105.9” KALC Denver, the “Slacker & Steve” show will come to an end on Friday, May 10 as Steve Weed departs the station.

Weed commented on-air, “The Slacker and Steve Show will no longer exist by the end of this week. Things behind the scenes have changed and we’ve come to a mutual decision and we’ve all decided it’s time for me to move on.” Slacker added, “Steve and I had a really good cry-talk on Thursday or Friday last week where the reality of us sitting in this room, you and I started doing this before we were paid to do it. You were getting paid to be on Alice and I was getting paid to be on Mix. Alice and Mix’s studios were next to each other. We weren’t doing our respective jobs. We screwed around together and did a thing.”

He has been with KALC since the early days of its brand in the mid-1990s including a stint in nights as ‘Smokin Steve Weed’. He joined the afternoon show in 2006 to replace Bo Reynolds alongside Slacker. The show was previously syndicated to other Entercom stations including WMHX Madison and KRSK Portland in the early 2010s.

Slacker, co-host Erin Doyle and producer T. Hack will remain in afternoons.
