VCMG Live’s “Oldies 95.9/106.9” W240CI North Palm Beach/W295BJ Jupiter/WIRK-HD3 has announced the addition of two new talents to the station.
Longtime West Palm Beach talent Skip Kelly joined the station on February 22 as morning host. Kelly most recently spent 22 years at iHeartMedia where he was last in afternoons at AC “Kool 105.5” WOLL and nights at Country “Wave 92.7” WAVW from 1998 until January 2020. Kelly previously worked at 94.3 WOLL, 97.9 WRMF, 95.5 WXFG, and 92.1 WRLX prior to joining WOLL.
Jennifer Wilde will join the station to host weekend shows. Wylde began her career at WMMS Cleveland and has later worked mostly in Florida with stints at WZTA, WBGG, and WFEZ in Miami, WTLT Fort Myers, and WQMP Orlando. She also was previously heard in the market on Classic Rock “Gater 98.7” WKGR.
W240CI/W295BJ’s weekday lineup now includes Kelly in mornings, Scott Shannon tracking middays, and John Tesh in afternoons. Kelly takes the morning slot that had been held by Tim Byrd until Byrd’s death in January.
Vic Canales, president and owner of VCMG Live, Inc., one of the leading independent and locally owned radio broadcasters in Florida, and Oldies 95.9FM & 106.9FM recently held their 5th Birthday Celebration with a free concert starring pop icon, Tony Orlando. They also announced a new morning show and weekend personality.
This weekend Oldies celebrated five years of bringing music hits to West Palm Beach, Florida, hosted by radio royalty and midday personality Scott Shannon. Thousands of Oldies fans from across South Florida and the Treasure Coast celebrated their favorite radio station, culminating in this free event which took place at the Abacoa Amphitheater in Jupiter, Florida, sponsored by Slomin’s 1-800 ALARM-ME, Robes Law Group, Sunrise Volkswagen, Sunrise Ford, TooJay’s, Humana, and many others.
At the celebration, VCMG Live proudly welcomed radio veteran Skip Kelly, a South Florida favorite, with his new show Wake Up with Skip Kelly, and on weekends, Jennifer Wylde, who is no stranger to the local airwaves.
The new Wake Up with Skip Kelly live morning show can be heard weekdays from 6 am-10 am in the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast and streaming anywhere through TrueOldiesFLA.com. Since college, Skip has been a radio personality and a staple on the West Palm Beach airwaves starting in 1986. He got his first chance at being on-air on Oldies 94.3 (WOLL) in 1988. He continued to work in Palm Beach County on stations like WRMF, the FROG 95.5, Classy 92.1 (WAVE Country) on the Treasure Coast, and his former station WOLL, which later became KOOL 105.5, where he was most recently heard daily for 22 years during midday.
“Oldies 95.9/106.9FM is a product of a complete team effort, and this station represents how radio used to be; unscripted and FUN. We want to speak to our local listeners and businesses with familiar and distinctive voices while playing the hits.” says Raymond ‘Chief’ Hernandez, SVP of Programming for VCMG Live. “This area has a rich musical heritage, and Oldies is here to fill that void.”
Oldies also welcomed Jennifer Wylde to their team as their new weekend personality. A Cleveland native, she has rocked Miami airwaves at 94.9 WZTA (Zeta) and 105.9 WBGG (Big 106) and in West Palm Beach at 98.7 WKGR (the Gator). Jen is back and better than ever.
VCMG Live CEO and President Vic Canales says, “VCMG Live is all about giving advertisers and listeners the best experience possible. The True Oldies Channel 95.9/106.9FM will always be special because we engage with our community and play the hippest music from the 60s and 70s.”
The Palm Beach’s Good Time Oldies station programming includes middays with Scott Shannon Monday through Friday 10 am-3 pm, afternoons with John Tesh Monday through Friday 3 pm-6 pm, Titans of the Palm Beaches with Jay Oliver, Inside Out with Anita Mitchell, and several local programs.
