She Scores returns to Scala Radio for a third series

A new series of She Scores on Scala Radio will feature women composers who have had success in composing screen music.

The first series was broadcast in 2021 and before the third series launches, listeners will have the chance to revisit some of the shows from series two.

Celebrating International Women’s Day on the 8 March, the station will air a selection of female-led programming across the day, alongside She Scores, which begins its new series on Sunday 5 March.

On International Women’s Day itself, Scala Radio will be solely playing music by women composers, and/or starring women soloists and conductors from 9am to 10pm.

There will be special guest curators, such as the world-class conductor – and Scala Radio Residency presenter – Marin Alsop, who will curate an hour of recordings starring women conductors at 4pm, with Penny Smith on Drive.

Sam Hughes will also welcome the trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth to her afternoon show to perform live in the Scala Sessions.

She Scores can be heard on Scala Radio every Sunday 6pm – 8pm from 19 February.
