LHTC Media’s closing of its $190,000 purchase of 102.7 WGYE Mannington/103.9 W280FF Morgantown and 105.7 WHTI Salem WV from Burbach of DE has led to a number of format changes in the Morgantown and Fairmont markets.
LHTC flipped Hot AC “Hot 105.7” WHTI Salem to a simulcast of Variety Hits “100.9 Jack-FM” WZST Westover/Morgantown. The move expands the coverage of the flagship station of University of West Virginia sports into the Clarksburg market.
The “Hot” brand is moved to 102.7 WGYE Mannington/103.9 W280FF Morgantown as CHR “Hot 102.7” creating a competitor to WVRC Audio’s 101.9 WVAQ. WGYE/W280FF were previously Country “Froggy” simulcasting now-former sister station 92.7 WGIE Clarksburg. LHTC Media General Manager Bill Dunn tells us this is the first CHR launch in the market since the 1980s with the station carrying Premiere Networks’ Elvis Duran and the Morning Show and American Top 40.
Those changes were preceded earlier this month at AJG Corporation’s Christian AC “92.1/93.1 FGM“. 1300 WPDX (formerly WCLG)/92.1 W221DR Morgantown has flipped to a simulcast of Classic Country 104.9 WPDX-FM Clarksburg. The flip is accompanied with a lineup change as Oceanic Tradewinds’ “Broadway & Friends” is added for mornings and ‘Big John’ Bowen will host afternoons. Bowen, who currently serves as Operations Manager for Kindred Communications in Huntington WV, previously served as PD/morning host at WVRC Audio Country 97.9 WKKW Morgantown.
93.1 WFGM-FM Barrackville makes a move to a Fairmont targeted Hot AC positioning as “Feel Good Music”. WFGM-GM is carrying Fairmont high school football.
