Scott Mills and Chris Start have said goodbye to their listeners on BBC Radio 1 with a special edition of their afternoon show.
The farewell show, Love You Bye, aired from 1pm till 3.30pm on Thursday full of special messages from celebrities and a look back at Scott’s 24 years at the station.
A final edition of ’24 years at the tap end’ from Chris Stark was aired (where Chris shares part of his future book based on sitting in the bath at the tap end), special montages of big moments of the show were produced, and listeners sent in messages of support.

In the last moments of the show, Chris Stark read an emotional message thanking everyone from his wife and kids to the bosses at BBC Radio 1.
Chris thanked Scott saying it’s been one of the best shows on the radio over the last 10 years. His last song of choice was Dry Your Eyes by The Streets.
And in an even more emotional goodbye speech, Scott said he’d never imagine he’d still be at the station 24 years after hosting his first show.
He touched on not getting the breakfast show – saying many conversations were had about him hosting it. But concluded if he had, he probably wouldn’t still be there now.
He ended by saying “If you ever feel there’s no one there, or if you feel lost, or if you feel there’s nothing good around you, I’ll say one thing to you… turn on the radio” before playing Christina Aguilera, Beautiful.
They both then played One Direction’s Night Changes.

Scott Mills is moving to afternoons at BBC Radio 2 replacing Steve Wright, so long-standing fans of the show will be encouraged to also make the move from Radio 1. The new show will be on-air from 2pm till 4pm.
Chris Stark however isn’t making the move with him. Instead, you’ll find him on Capital Breakfast in the near future where he’s taking up a new role as Creative Executive Producer and presenter along with Roman Kemp, Sonny and Sian.
