Scott Childers Exits Alpha Media Chicago

Veteran Chicago area programmer, on-air talent, and engineer Scott Childers has exited Alpha Media’s suburban Aurora and Joliet clusters after 20 years as his position was eliminated.

Childers originally joined Classic Rock “95.9 The River” WERV Aurora in 2004 as Assistant Program Director until 2008. He later served as Program Director for Hot AC “Star 96.7” WSSR Joliet from 2008 to 2019 and Interactive Director for NextMedia from 2008-11, while also spending time as Imaging Director, Public Affairs Coordinator and station voice before moving into the Chief Engineer role while also holding on-air positions at the clusters.

Childers also hosted middays at 100.3 WPNT/WNND Chicago from 1996-2003, and held on-air roles at 101.9 WTMX and 103.5 WWBZ Chicago. During his time at Alpha, he also was a traffic and news anchor for Metro Networks and 720 WGN from 2003-09 and Total Traffic & Weather and 890 WLS in 2019-20. He also maintains the WLS History website and has authored a book about the station.

Childers shares about his co-workers, “They truly are the best, most hard-working crew. Each and every one of them I consider family and will miss interacting with them on a daily basis.” He is seeking on-air or engineering opportunities at scottchildersradio@gmail.com with his aircheck available at scottchilders.com/aircheck.
