Rubber City Radio Group has announced the promotions of Sarah Kay and Matt Spatz to Program Director positions within the company’s Akron OH stations.
Kay will now Program Country 94.9 WQMX Akron. She joined the station in 2008 as a weekend host before moving to nights in 2010. She has co-hosted mornings with Scott Wynn since 2015 and added Assistant Program Director duties in 2019. She previously co-hosted mornings at 94.1 WHBC-FM Canton.
Spatz, who returned to Classic Rock 97.5 WONE as morning host alongside Amanda Casey this past January, now adds Program Director duties for that station. Spatz previously worked on-air at WONE from 1994-1997. He has previously programmed WROV Roanoke VA from 2006-2007, WNCD and WAKZ Youngstown OH from 2007-2011 and WYFM and WWIZ Youngstown from 2013 until rejoining WONE.
The promotions of Kay and Spatz come with the exit of Operations Manager Jeff Lynn. Lynn joined Rubber City in August 2018 and also served as Program Director of WQMX and Alternative “Jeny 107.3” WNWV Elyria/Cleveland. Lynn has previously programmed WRIT/WQBW Milwaukee and served as Operations Manager of Townsquare Media Quad Cities and NRG Media Omaha.
These changes follow the moves made last month with the exit of former WONE Program Director Craig Michaels and shift of WNWV’s airstaff to slots on WONE and WQMX.
