The Television & Radio Industries Club has announced Roman Kemp as TRIC President for 2024 at its Christmas lunch yesterday, whilst Dave Berry was handed a Recognition Award.
Roman will take over from Rob Rinder, who presented the TRIC Awards earlier this year.
Dave Berry was given TRIC’s second-ever Recognition Award for his work in radio and his current breakfast show on Absolute Radio.
Also at the event on Tuesday, Smooth Radio presenter Angie Greaves talked about the success of commercial radio over its first 50 years, and singer Louise Redknapp performed.
TRIC Chair, Daniel Todaro: “TRIC is very fortunate to have such a progressive president in Roman Kemp that will bring TRIC to a new audience. Angela Rippon has been the recipient of four TRIC Awards and now her fifth, which acknowledges Angela’s outstanding achievement to broadcast media.
“Dave is a well-known voice on commercial radio and TRIC recognises his contribution. TRIC is a unique organisation which spans TV, Radio, Streaming & Podcast broadcast media. Watch this space for the 55th TRIC Awards in 2024.”
TRIC has been raising money for Parkinson’s UK and the 45 Aid Society and both charities received funds raised during the year at the TRIC Awards, last year’s Christmas Lunch and the ERT Awards.
Every year the TRIC Chair and President will choose two new charities to raise funds for at the TRIC Christmas Lunch and its flagship event, the TRIC Awards 2023, which will be held on Tuesday, 25th of June 2024. TRIC will be raising money for a charity close to Roman Kemp’s heart – Joe’s Buddy Line, and it will also be raising money for the TRIC Chair’s chosen charity, Starlight.
TRIC was formed in 1931 and established in the early days of broadcasting as the Radio Industries Club, and Television.
