After a brief stint as Production Director at Audacy Minneapolis, Robert ‘Woody’ Nelson is returning to Cumulus Minneapolis in the dual role of midday host at Classic Rock 92.5 KQRS and Creative Imaging Director for KQRS and Rock “93X” KXXR.
Nelson previously served as Production Director and evening host at KXXR from 2011 until last year. He had joined Audacy this past July and has also held roles in voiceover and podcast production during his career.
Jay Philpott, who had been serving as midday host at KQRS, continues as Program Director and afternoon host at Soft AC trimulcast “Love 105” 105.1 WGVX Lakeville, 105.3 WLUP Cambridge, and 105.7 WWWM-FM Eden Prairie.
CUMULUS MEDIA (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that it has appointed Robert “Woody” Nelson as Midday Host for 92KQRS, Minnesota’s Classic Rock station, and Creative Imaging Director for 92KQRS and Rock station 93X/KXXR-FM. Nelson debuts on 92KQRS on Monday, September 13, 2021, and will be heard Monday through Friday from 10:00am-3:00pm.
Nelson was previously Production Director and Night Host for Cumulus sister station 93X/KXXR-FM, where he served as Production Director and Night Host from 2011-2020. He also created and hosts several successful podcasts and has worked in commercial voiceover for more than a decade, including a stint as the voice of the Pillsbury Doughboy Giggle in Canada. Nelson holds a B.A. in English from The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
