After completing its $500,000 acquisition of 106.9 K295CH Kansas City from Alpine Broadcasting Corporation, Carter Broadcast Group has launched Adult R&B “RNB 106.9” fed via 103.3 KPRS-HD2.
Flanking the company’s primary Hip Hop “Hot 103 Jamz” KPRS-FM, the new brand will feature core artists Mary J. Blige, Jazmine Sullivan, Silk Sonic, Jodeci, Jill Scott, Michael Jackson and SWV. The station will also feature the Rickey Smiley Morning Show in mornings.

Listeners can tune in to hear the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, weekdays from 5:00am – 9:00am (CST). The show features renowned radio personality, comedian and actor, Rickey Smiley with his upbeat team including Da Brat, Gary Wit Da T, Rock T and Special K.
“The debut of the all-new, RNB 106.9 FM, is very significant to the history of the Carter Broadcast Group (CBG). Today marks our 73rd anniversary of launching our first station, KPRS-AM, in Kansas City, Missouri,” said CBG President Michael Carter. “This strategic launch enhances our connection with the Kansas City community and allows us to super serve R&B music fans.”
RNB 106.9 FM (K295CH) will be an addition to CBG’s radio station portfolio that includes Hot 103 Jamz (KPRS-FM) and Gospel 1590 AM/106.1 FM (KPRT-AM/K291CN).
