“98.5 The Sports Hub” WBZ-FM Boston morning hosts Fred Toucher and Rich Shertenlieb told listeners this morning that producer Mike Lockhart will return to the show days after being one of eight Boston employees to be let go as part of Beasley Media Group’s layoffs earlier this month.
Shertenlieb indicated that he is paying Lockhart’s salary plus a 38 percent markup being charged by Beasley for administrative fees stating, “In return for the company allowing me to pay my own money to bring Mike back, I was made to sign a contract that the show would write four articles a day for the station’s website. But that was much better than some of the other things that they were asking for. This is the last I’ll speak of the last week, because quite frankly, I’m fried. But the bottom line is, we love Mike Lockhart, he’s a part of our team, and I always want him to be part of our team.”
Lockhart spent thirteen years with the show starting on Rock 104.1 WBCN before the station flipped to Sports and moved to 98.5. He also hosted WBZ-FM’s Sunday morning fantasy football show.
