Red Apple Media Conservative Talk 770 WABC New York has suspended Rudy Giuliani from the station and cancelled his daily 3-4pm show.
The New York Times reports that owner John Catsimatidis had warned Giuliani multiple times about trying to discuss the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election on the show. He told the Times, “We’re not going to talk about fallacies of the November 2020 election. We warned him once. We warned him twice. And I get a text from him last night, and I get a text from him this morning that he refuses not to talk about it. So, he left me no option. I suspended him.”
Giuliani joined the daily WABC lineup in January 2021 after the former New York City mayor coordinated failed legal challenges against the election results as Donald Trump’s personal lawyer. The show had been syndicated by Catsimatidis’ Red Apple Audio Networks since the network’s launch in January 2022. Catsimatidis told the Times that Giuliani was only paid via a percentage of revenue brought in by the show.
Longtime WABC host Curtis Sliwa, who hosts from 12:15 to 1:00pm on the station, was heard in the 3pm hour today although the show was still billed as “The Rudy Giuliani Show”. Giuliani also hosts a Sunday morning hour co-hosted with Dr. Maria Ryan billed as “Uncovering the Truth with Rudy Giuliani and Dr. Maria Ryan”. That show was unaffected by the cancellation, but has also been removed from the WABC schedule as have all references to Giuliani.
