RB1 Radio is changing its name to Rotherham Radio

Rotherham and South Yorkshire’s RB1 Radio is changing its name to Rotherham Radio as of March 6th 2023.

Program director Stewart Nicholson told RadioToday about the change: “We will continue to broadcast across Rotherham and South Yorkshire on DAB, there will be no change to our broadcasting team and the amazing output that we are so proud of.

“We also have a brand new App which you can download from the App Store for free from March 6th.”

RB1 Radio launched in September 2020 as part of a wave of “post code” radio services following the news of the mass-rebranding of local radio stations by Bauer.

Directors Paul Chadbourne and Chris Holden took over the company in 2021 and say that after doing extensive market research and after general feedback from listeners and advertisers it was clear the RB1 Radio brand wasn’t local enough.

Rotherham Radio is not connected with the established similar sounding Rother Radio, owned by Rotherham Broadcasting.
